Recently I sold a Sea Otter Narrow boat to a customer (James Smith) who is a retired dentist. The boat was surveyed and there were a couple of minor issues to be resolved prior to completion. James had said he would be away for a few weeks so there was no rush to get the work done. I asked if he was going "anywhere nice" as one does, the reply I got was not what I would have ever imagined. James was going to Nicaragua for 2 weeks to perform basic dental care, pain relief and dental health education. In order to visit the villages the main form of transport (now here's the nautical link !!) is a small narrow boat called a "Panger" that has a 200 hp engine hung on the back!!.... Below is a brief and interesting report from James along with pictures of this work he regularly provides at his own cost................

Boatshed Cowes, situated in the heart of the yachting mecca is delighted with the news that Aberdeen Asset Management have signed a three year deal as Title Sponsors for this famous regatta. This is fantastic news for the regatta, the town, business owners in Cowes and, of course, the thousand of competitors and visitors who throng the town every August. (Please note that Cowes Week 2011 runs from the 6th -13th due to the tidal situation in the solent.) Congratulaions must go to Stuart Quarrie (CEO Cowes Week Ltd) and his team for firstly winning this sponsorship deal and secondly, for running the regatta so well in the interim years with no title sponsor. Well done and we are all looking forward to Cowes Week 2011. Boatshed Cowes will, as ever, be in the thick of it, both ashore and afloat, so contact us if you are planning to visit during the regatta.
It’s rare that yachts as well specified and equipped as this Beneteau 473 is, come onto the market. It is rare also to find one with just one owner from new who has used and enjoyed his yacht so much. She was purchased new in the USA and used in the Caribbean until she sailed to South Devon (where she now lies) in the 2010 ARC Europe.

The latest addition to London’s list of swish marinas, Imperial Wharf, opened its doors to London’s boating community late last year. Until now, nature’s tide has restricted access to berths in London's marinas, forcing owners to plan their trips around the high water access windows.
