Broker's Comments
Boatshed Midi Canals are pleased to introduce this well equipped navigable Dutch Barge for sale in the south of France.
When entering this historic barge, the very first impression you get is that a considerable amount of money and time has been lavished on this barge to transforming the vessel into a comfortable home for her owners. You also can not help feeling the sophisticated and professional ambiance of the wheelhouse itself. This barge has been bought, designed and build by a retired life long professional barge skipper. A high level of modern controls, electro/ hydraulic assistance and electronic aids are all around you. The old wheel steering has been replace with hydraulic automatic helm. Everything you need to control this barge gently in close quarters is at you fingertips. There are 3 video screen giving clear sight of the far reaching corners and essential vision of the engine room. There is even a long reaching remote controller equipped with video screens allowing you to operate the craft wilst walking her decks. This is particularly handy when the hydraulic wheelhouse roof is lowered for navigation under low bridges.
When you step down the companion way stairs into the saloon, you can forgive yourself for imagining that you are in a smart london apartment on the river. The large windows create an unrivalled view and a modern airy feeling of space that you do not often experience on board a barge.
Everything within the barge, with only the exception of few vases and a plaque on one wall will be left on the barge for her new owners. The enormous television with its constantly tracking satellite receiver dome.
Yamaha hifi system, a complete array of Miele domestic appliances and all you need for entertaining will be there.
I have never seen such a high levels of systems, backed up by more back up systems. You can start either of the two 15 KVA generators from the wheelhouse, the generator rooms or even in the Galley if needed.
The bathroom is fittered with electric heads with dual flush allowing the use of either raw water or fresh tanked water. There is an air extractor that draws air through the toilet outlet for extra freshness. There is an automatic flushing urinal and a large rain shower. Hidden within the bathroom is the Miele washing machine and tumbler dryer.
The saloon has a large 'L' shape suede sofa and coffee table, TV with DVD player and sound system.
The Galley is fully fitted with domestic built in Miele appliances fridge, freezer, 4 burner electric hob, combination microwave oven and extractor fan.
The owners cabin has a large double bed 160x200cm and floor to ceiling wardrobe with sliding doors
There are 3 reversible AC units throughout the barge as well as under floor oil fired central heating. There is also a very attractive ethanol burning feature fire place heater.
The headroom throughout the saloon is 2.10cm
There is the additional benefit of a second cabin forward that has reverse cycle air conditioning and two single berths.
Behind the scenes, the quality and technology continues under the floors. This space that can only be described as a cellar rather than a bilge. It contains the 8,000 litter water tanks, water softeners, macerators pumps, electronics panels, spares and so on....
Aft you will find a practical workshop housing one of the generators. Next to this is the large walk in engine room. With the second generator.
We understand from the owner that around €500,000 has been spent on the conversion. This includes over €70,000 on the electrics, €25 000 on shot blasting the hull and a further €25,000 on it's new anodized aluminium lowering wheelhouse.
This list goes on.
