Boatshed Cowes, situated in the heart of the yachting mecca is delighted with the news that Aberdeen Asset Management have signed a three year deal as Title Sponsors for this famous regatta. This is fantastic news for the regatta, the town, business owners in Cowes and, of course, the thousand of competitors and visitors who throng the town every August. (Please note that Cowes Week 2011 runs from the 6th -13th due to the tidal situation in the solent.)
Congratulaions must go to Stuart Quarrie (CEO Cowes Week Ltd) and his team for firstly winning this sponsorship deal and secondly, for running the regatta so well in the interim years with no title sponsor. Well done and we are all looking forward to Cowes Week 2011. Boatshed Cowes will, as ever, be in the thick of it, both ashore and afloat, so contact us if you are planning to visit during the regatta.

The need for a title sponsor for major events was proven during the tenure of Skandia with who's help Cowes Week moved forward rapidly to become what we see today.

Cowes week like all major events suffer at the hands of city dwelling beaurocrats who insist on swinging legislation at every turn and the inevitable result is vastly increased costs and these costs must be born. Without a title sponsor the competitor bears the brunt and eventually they say enough is enough and opt fo cheaper/smaller regattas. Net result Cowes week suffers. So thank you Aberdeen Asset Management.
