Broker's Comments
Beneteau First 405 for sale in southern France. Boatshed Midi Canals is pleased to offer this two cabin version of the popular Beneteau First 405 for sale. In the same hands for nearly thirty years, our owner informs us that he spent the first few years cruising the West Coast of Scotland. In 2000 he made the trip from Scotland to Lagos, Portugal “Non stop 6+ knots +/- 1300miles” eventually ending up in Croatia in 2005 where the boat stayed until 2011. In 2012 he moved to Turkey where the boat was based until moving to Italy in 2015 where it stayed until this season 2022.
Maintenance and improvements include an engine out rebuild in 2007. In 2012 the interior of the boat was treated to Corian worktops replacing the original Formica, in both the saloon and the aft heads; the overhead fluorescent strip lights were replaced by new LED units which could all be switched to “red” mode for night passages. The hull main windows were replaced with sun reactive shaded Perspex. A dual control wiring set up for the GARMIN 750S plotter was installed at the compass binnacle at the steering wheel thereby dispensing with navigation from below in fine conditions.
Brindisi Italy 2015
Following an incident with a small fishing boat on passage from Greece a net fouled the prop. and the drag before the engine stopped was sufficient to collapse the engine bearers. Balsams Bros in Brindisi overhauled and refitted the engine, realigned the shaft, and renewed the engine mounts. 2016 saw a new back stay fitted and new furling headsail fitted.
End of season 2022 France, sails repaired, valeted and stored until Spring 2023. New Morse engine control supplied and fitted.
Finally, a substantial new “handy billy” has just been built with a main sheet roller and jammer which is substantial enough to provide puchase sufficient to lift a man overboard if used in conjunction with a halliard. Take a good look at our photos and videos. Signs of the good use and good times our vendor has enjoyed are apparent; the conscientious and continuous maintenance and upgrading are also evident. A comfortable and nimble sailing yacht, well-equipped and looking forward to her next thirty years of adventures in new hands.
