The Van de Stadt Offshore 8 is of GRP construction throughout and has been described as a comfortable, safe and economical five berth family cruiser. The hull has a skeg type rudder giving excellent, light and yet responsive handling. Stiff and dry in a seaway she still sails well in light airs and has good performance downwind. Well presented, these boats still cut a dash.

Broker's Comments
These boats have often been described as a ‘go anywhere boat’ and were built in the days when the strength of GRP was not fully realized and were therefore very heavily laid up. She is a little gem of a boat, one of the nicest older generation boats we have seen. Beautifully presented, with a fresh coat of antifoul and, subject to any survey, we believe she is ready to launch and in a sail away condition.
The one possible modification required, particularly for a young family, is the addition of guard rails.
If you are looking for your first cruiser, this boat should be top of your list of boats to view.
