Broker's Comments

The Westerly Centaur was designed in 1968 by Jack Laurent Giles as a more contemporary and spacious replacement for the Westerly 25. They were built to Lloyds specifications, meaning that the building processes were rigorously tested and all the materials had to be approved by Lloyds in order that a certificate could be issued.

The Centaur's self-draining cockpit is deep and comfortable, spacious for its size; with four berths, galley and separate fore-cabin and heads. Ideal for families and single handed, ideal for cruising estuaries, rivers, coastal passages and further afield.

Westerly Centaur's are one of the most well known and loved models from the reliable and sturdy Westerly range of sailing yachts. Designed for maximum comfort in the cockpit and interior, the bilge keel is also perfect for sailing shallower waters, whilst also capable of venturing further afield.

When I visited the boat, I saw a vessel with a good looking, relatively recent engine, and an appeal to anybody looking for a safe, easy to handle boat to enjoy a variety of sailing. This version comes with a recent engine, rigging and headlining.

Owners comments: "Well loved, maintained and sensibly upgraded during my father’s ownership, it had plenty of use both cruising and racing - with some very good results in local Thames Estuary Yacht Club races, and cruising around the east, south east coasts, France, Belgium and the Netherlands".
