Broker's Comments

This Precision 18 is a fun boat to get you out on the water today! Turn key ready for your next adventure. This is an ideal Trailer Sailor whether you are novice or seasoned sailor looking to down size and try some gunkholing! Precision 18 offers performance, affordability and size. Having spent some time with the owners I can tell you this Precision 18 hull #90 is offered for sale due to doctor’s orders and with regret. I know the owners have had a lot of fun sailing this fine little boat, so with that in mind this Precision 18 meets a key goal according to the designer’s objectives, he states sailing should be fun and the key to the fun is keeping it simple. I know the owners will attest to this. In addition the builder and the designer had a few other goals that included keeping the boat safe for family cruising, affordable and always fun. You can find the full designers comments on the Precision Boat Works website. This will give a much better review than I can. You can also find 100+ pages of analysis and thoughtful comment by Tom Scott - Precision 18 #129, this is great resource full of info and it includes Jim Taylor’s designer comments. To learn more about the designer check out www.tayloryachtdesigns.com There is a good bio there and also check out Precision Boat Works www.precisionboatworks.com. What I noticed when I boarded was a look and feel of a larger boat good non-skid on the deck, life lines, an anchor locker forward, and all controls running to the cock pit. The cockpit is ample enough for several adults. I am sure not having the mast down helped with the uncluttered feel. The Precision 18 has fractional rig and is easily rigged in minutes. Harken Hardware, with all controls lead to the cockpit for easy single handing. Sails include Main with single slab reef, working Jib 100% cut for roller furling 150%Genoa, Radial cut Spinnaker 3/4oz. Black Mainsail cover. It comes with a custom mast raising kit. She has a long shoal shallow keel and her draft with the board up is only 1’6”, kick up rudder made of fiberglass, center board retracts into the keel. The keel holds 360 lbs of lead ballast for stability. Auxiliary power is from a JOHNSON 6hp SAILMASTER with 4 amp generator and 3 gallon fuel tank, hours estimated at 10. Stainless Swim Ladder, 48qt cooler, portable head. MAGIC-TILT galvanized trailer with spare tire. This should be a lively but well mannered boat based on the hull design, simple rig, light weight- hand laminated fiberglass hull & deck with a balsa cored deck . You will find good space below to overnight or get out of the weather if needed. Give me a call to arrange a showing or talk more about this neat day tripping trailer sailor.

This is a used boat and should be viewed as such. It is always in your best interest to have a survey completed on your behalf.
